Here's where you
can find out about the elusive, sought-after breedings. Included is information
on what is required to breed Iernatai and how a breeding may be obtained.
Information on Breeding
Breedings are more than just a means to acquire eggs. They are instead a way to
bring new, healthy life to the NRBC. Often breedings result in offspring with a
mixing of their parents' traits, and even with new traits springing from their
parents'. Burrow breedings are more likely to produce offspring with new or
interesting traits than non-burrow breedings.
An Iernatai breeding requires two Iern, a male and a female. There are ways for
two males or two females to produce an egg, but this involves a miniquest and is
somewhat difficult. Because Iern do not often mate for life, each pair is only
allowed one breeding together every three rounds. This means that if Fluffy and
Frufru breed, they have to skip two rounds afterwards before breeding with one
another. Although male Iern may breed as often as they'd like as long as they
follow the previously mentioned rule, even going so far as breeding more than
once in the same round, female Iern may only breed once every other round. This
is due to the fact that it's hard work laying eggs and caring for babies.
Different pairings are certainly allowed and are actually encouraged. It widens
the gene-pool.
Breedings are only
available when there is a post in the exchange offering them. Do not email me
asking for a breeding if they aren't open. Likewise, don't apply after all spots
are filled in the post unless it's an official burrow breeding (see below).
Non-Burrow Breedings
Includes situations where parents are not in a burrow, only one parent is in a
burrow, or parents are in different burrows.
Price: 75q
Eggs: 1-4
Two trainers can split the cost of the breeding if the Iernatai have different
trainers or one trainer can pay the entire price. Outside trainers may not help
pay for the breeding in exchange for extra eggs. If two trainers are involved in
the breeding, both trainers must reply to the breeding post in order to have the
breeding registered. Mutations are not very likely from Non-Burrow Breedings,
but it is possible if the Iern have special genes.
If Iernatai apply
for a breeding and are accepted into one of the slots, please note that they may
have to give up that spot should a burrow apply after them. This will only
happen if they are the lowest non-burrow breeding on the list. A full refund
will be given to the trainer(s) involved in the event that this happens.
Each trainer involved gets one egg. If only one trainer is involved, they still
only get to choose one. The rest of the eggs are kept by the Warren Leader until
they hatch or grow to kits and then are sold to the public or offered in a
roleplay. At that time, the trainers involved in the breeding can buy the
babies/kits back or attempt to win them through roleplay. They do not receive
any preference over other interested trainers, however.
Burrow
Breedings
Includes situations where parents are both in the same burrow.
Price: 50q
Eggs: 2-6
During a breeding round, each burrow is allowed one breeding spot where they can
submit a breeding from one breeding pair from within the burrow. Any trainers in
the burrow can participate in the payment of the breeding as long as the full
price is paid. All trainers who wish to participate in the breeding must reply
to the breeding post in order to have the pair registered for breeding.
Mutations and special traits occur more often in burrow breedings and the more
members that are in the burrow, the more likely that a mutation or special trait
will occur.
If all spots in a
breeding are filled by the time the burrow is ready to apply, they may still
apply if one or more of those spots is filled by a non-burrow breeding. Burrow
breedings receive precedence.
Eggs will be marked with the warren and burrow symbol. The owner(s) of the
Iernatai must decide what to do with the eggs once they are born. Options
include: keeping all of them, giving them to trainers of the burrow, or selling
them back to the Leader of the warren for quox. Please note that eggs cannot be
given away to trainers outside of the burrow.
